Since the UDP patch would it be possible to play more than 8?

Put some new colors and 5v5 :D

I wont be expanding that, not really worth it.

Yes, the Aftermath Tesla tanks have this ability. I suspect it was done intentionally, inspired by the Counterstrike makeshift "Tesla Tanks" that were just Radar Jammers with a Tesla weapon, so I think there is no need to "fix" it.

Yes i mean the Aftermath Tesla Tank.
It is a Tesla Tank which belongs to the Soviets and is not a Radar Jammer.
The "real" Radar Jammer only belongs to the Allies, so why the Soviets should get a Tank which can jam the enemys Radar and shoot at the same time??
The Allies Radar Jammer Unit can not shoot either.

The Tesla generator messes with surrounding radar receptors. It's that simple.

The Tesla Tank is a Tesla Tank for Battle and not a Mobile Radar Jammer to jam the Radar like the MRJ of the Allies

Okay, the real question is, can we define if the radar jamming ability of the Tesla Tank was consciously added by the developers or was it an oversight on their part? Any ideas, Hyper?

I can't see how that can be an oversight, to be honest.

It makes sense though. Balance wise, the Soviets didn't have a jamming vehicle, did they? :S

BTW, what about the PlayStation version? I think it could serve as an additional argument for or against removing this feature.

On another note, have I already mentioned the fact that the animation of the side logo fading out and being replaced by the minimap when the radar is activated plays so fast it's unnoticeable? Would be nice to correct that one too.

Eh? The Tesla Tank was a new unit with a new slot I'm sure they kept this ability for the zapper because the design was pretty much stolen from the Allies... it's still a modified Radar Jammer.

Plus i own and play Ra1 alot for the PlayStation and it always had this anyway. :P

Hmmm if the Tesla Tank Technology disturbs the Radar, then why only the enemys Radar and not also the own Radar?
This is just a side effect of the Tesla Tank and not a controlled effect like the one of the Mobile Radar Jammer, where the Radar
Jamming of the enemys Radar is the only purpose of it. The Tesla Tanks side-ability to jam the "enemys" Radar is nonsense!

And why should the Soviets get this Radar-Jam-Technology too and then additionally as just a side effect for a already existent unit?
The Mobile Radar Jammer of the Allies has no weapon in contrary to the Tesla Tank of the Soviets. The Soviets are strong enough, they are overpowered anyway! :o

I dont see the problem.

If it aint broke, dont fix it.

Besides, REALLY? If you think the Soviets are broken, you should start playing with the Allied, buddy. Also, against someone else than the CPU on Easy. :P

So is the Chronosphere and the Iron Curtain. There's no use applying real-life logic to every aspect of the game, some realism was sacrificed for the sake of gameplay.

Hmm, fun stuff. Or not, depending on how you look at it. I noticed the weirdest crashes in C&C '95 and Red Alert '95 and just today figured out what is causing it: Skype.

Whenever someone posts a text message on my Skype (either personal, or conference group chat), my C&C '95 and RA '95 crash out.
This is even with Skype set to "Do not disturb" mode, so it's essentially just looking pretty on my system tray.
And the reason I put it on dnd in the first place was because the pop-ups of people coming online were shimmering through the game (full screen mode)
and dropping its FPS dramatically as long as it was up. As for a clue why C&C and RA crash on that? I can't offer any.

Furthermore, another weird issue pops up with the Snow Theater smudge fix; when starting the game, I can load any savegame just fine, but as soon as I try to
load any savegame after that which is saved on the Snow Theater (including the savegame itself, which loaded fine initially), my game crashes with an illegal memory operation.
This even occurs when I drop back to the main game menu and try to load from there. As an aside, the "fixed" smudges don't appear as
squares either, they're rectangular (compressed in the vertical direction), leaving the bottom half of the square to be whatever random junk bytes
happen to be in memory I guess - which might explain the illegal memory operation crash as well. I just don't understand why it loads the first time and crashes on the second time.

If any of the message boxes that pop up contain a format "0x004D31E0" or so, post that info up. Make sure you using 3.03 though.

Isn't the 3.03 patch for TFD only though? I only have the original game from way back when the game was first released, so I am running the 1.08 patch.

I do get a pop-up window with such an error report on the crash with the smudge fix, I can try and see if I can get some numbers on those.
The lockups that happen with Skype are just that: a hard lockup of the game, no pop-up window or anything. I have to actively kill the RA process then through the Taskmanager to get rid of the locked game.

No. The 3.03 patch is also IN the TFD patch, but it's not for TFD only.. As far as I know.

It's weird that the smudge fix causes an error, the SHPs should all be okay. I'll check it out.
